At the heart of the composition, Jean Monet’s face emerges like a memory caught between reality and fantasy. His gaze is soft yet haunting, reflecting both the curiosity of youth and the quiet knowing of time itself. As an artist, my intent was to explore the essence of childhood as something that never truly disappears but instead transforms, waiting to be rediscovered through memory and imagination. Monet’s portrayal of his son captures an ephemeral moment, but this surreal interpretation seeks to extend that moment indefinitely. The organic portal represents the way we step through time whenever we recall our past, and the dreamlike marionette figure embodies the playful yet fragile nature of youth.
